The KC-390 is capable of transporting and launching cargo and troops and performing a wide array of missions including: medical evacuation, search and rescue, humanitarian search and rescue, aerial refueling (fighters and helicopters), aerial firefighting and humanitarian assistance.

This ship is designed to transport troops, combat vehicles, tanks, artillery, and logistics. It supports amphibious landings through coastal areas or conflict zones, as well as aerial military operations. Additionally, it is equipped with medical facilities that can be utilized to their full capacity when needed. The 236-meter Landing Helicopter Dock, with a maximum speed of 20 knots, can also accommodate 348 crew members, 56 aircrew, 700 embarked forces, and 56 medical personnel.
