MRTP16 FIC IS LONGER VERSION OF MRTP15 AS SISTER SHIP AND WITH ITS BIGGER ENGINE CAPACITY IT IS SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR VERY HIGH SPEED. THE BOAT IS POWERED WITH 2 DIESEL ENGINES AND IS DRIVEN WITH ARNESSON SURFACE DRIVES. THE SPEED OF THIS BOAT CAN REACH UP TO 65KTS. THE SUPER FAST INTERCEPTOR (SFI) VERSION OF THE BOAT, WHICH IS DESIGNED FOR ROYAL POLICE COAST GUARD OF OMAN CAN REACH UP TO 75 KTS. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH 12.7MM STABILIZED TURRET FOR DETERENCE AND INTERVENTION PURPOSES. In such circumstances, the BRS ship's mobility enables it to be rapidly deployed to disaster-affected areas to carry out emergency response activities.
Pursuant to Indonesian Armed Forces Law No. 34 of 2004, under Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW), the BRS ship is capable of conducting operations to assist in disaster management, evacuation, and humanitarian aid, as well as search and rescue missions in the event of accidents. Beyond these scenarios, the BRS ship also possesses the capability to undertake international diplomacy missions.
